Five important tips to allow you to be number one in Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing

We all want to be number one when it comes to Internet Marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and PPC (Pay Per Click aka Google Ad words) but we all get lost in the jargon. I have often heard this wonderful phrase that I like to use, "paralysis by analysis"! People analyze everything to death if you consider that 99% of websites have overlooked the 5 basics of SEO.
They haven't bothered to understand the language involved, haven't bothered to speak to their customers and find out what it is that the customers wants, they haven't bothered to understand the process behind Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing. It takes 5 minutes to understand these things.
They would get 100% return on investment by asking a few simple questions. The concept is very simple:
1. Are you famous?
2. Do you know what you sell?
3. What you think Joe and Jane Public think you sell?
4. Where do you make your money?
5. What were your clietns looking for when they started searching for you?
If you can get these answers and then gain further insight into your clients, then these five important tips come to the fore and they really are, incredibly simple, if people would just pay attention to the basics.
Google is the biggest librarian in the world with a library of over 1 trillion books (Websites!), so you can appreciate, if you try to find something within the Google library, the librarian needs to go and find the book (Website), based on the wording of your question.
Google has made the rules very clear and basic. You follow the rules and Google will find or present your book to match the query of the request. If you don't follow the rules of Google then Google will not find or present your book, no matter how good the content. You need a good headline to grab the attention of Google.
If all of this is missing because you have not followed the rules allowing the librarian (Google) to find your book, then your well thought out and well-constructed content will remain invisible to those people searching for it.
As I said in the beginning you want your website on page 1 of Google
If you know what I think you sell, then create a headline that uses my language (Joe or Jane Public) and which excites me
  • · Put it in your title
  • · Put it in your headline
  • · Put it in the body
  • · Put it in the meta-data (where you provide information about your content)
  • Put it in your alt text atributes
Once you have figured out how and why your client wants to do business with you and what they are looking for, then you can start creating great content that people want to read. Unfortunately, most copy writers just don't get the picture.
The headline needs to be promising, exciting and attention grabbing. Much like this great, fantastic and awesome article that I have just created to help you! Yes, I am egotistical but that is beside the point, the fact still remains that you're reading this article because you want to be on page 1 of Google and you have no idea how to do get there!
So I say to you, build the perfectly optimized page and to build the perfectly optimized page, you need five things and five things only.
Once you have the answers, you then need to make sure that your title (this is the text that appears at the top of your website), has the question in it.
Then you need to make sure that the question is repeated again on the content on your webpage with an H1 (Heading).
You must write your content which must be original and a minimum of 500 words.
Not copied content from other websites, that's plagiarism not a good idea as Google will penalize you for that (you will lose your ranking)
This is really easy to do, all you have to do is read an article, think about the subject and then write about what is your field of understanding.
You need to verify that the URL, for example, http://www.yourco.com/article, matches the title.
If the title matches the H1 and the URL, then you're on the winning track.
It is then really simple, as all you have to do is make sure that you've mentioned the key phrase i.e. the great title, in your article at least five times, so Google can approve the simple five easy steps and get you to get you to the top of page 1 of Google.

If this still sounds like too much to absorb, join Ipcoweb and a free training session at a venue near you. Learn what you need for internet marketing
